PCN 05012024-001II. Summary
MultiTech announces select Dragonfly LTE Cat 4 and Dragonfly LTE Cat M1 ordering part numbers are changing status fromActive to Not Recommended for New Designs (NRND) effective immediately.
Replacement models are available.
III. Background
The COVID-19 pandemic significantly disrupted the global supply chain and triggered a cascade of challenges across industries worldwide.The flow of raw materials and finished goods was difficult to predict due to factory, port, and distribution center closures.
MultiTech was not exempt from these disruptions and the decision was made to pursue alternate supply and design options to continue meeting our customers' needs.
For Dragonfly embedded modems, the result was a series of new ordering part numbers with an alternate hardware design.
- The core functionality of the alternate hardware design and original hardware design are the same
- The primary difference is a series of voltage level translators that differ between each hardware version
- The modem firmware and other critical components remain the same for each hardware version
Today, these supply chain disruptions no longer impact Dragonfly embedded modems and MultiTech is consolidating the Dragonfly product offering
to a limited set of ordering part numbers.
Repositioning the Dragonfly portfolio with competitive pricing and a consolidated number of models provides customers with a concise
and focused number of devices to choose from and reduces the decision-making complexity for customers.
Customers will be able to quickly identify the devices that meet their requirements without being overwhelmed by excessive options.

Two-Year Product WarrantyAll MultiTech products include a two-year warranty that includes on-line technical support and 24-hour website support.

To help facilitate the transition to the Active ordering part numbers listed in this notification, we recommend the following actions be taken:- Forward this notification to others within your organization who are actively involved in the sale or support of embedded cellular modems.
- When reviewing new program designs, quote the Active ordering part numbers listed in this notification.
- Forward this notification to existing customers and make them aware of the change in status for the NRND ordering part numbers.
- Encourage existing customers to order samples of the appropriate Active ordering part numbers for evaluation.
